2018 US Convention
It is our pleasure to invite you to the 2018 Komvention
AfoAkom USA Inc’s 15th annual Komvention (Kom convention) is hosted this year by our Northeast Chapter in New York City from Thursday June 21st to Sunday June 24th. All events with the exception of the tour shall take place at Doubletree by Hilton Fort Lee (2117 Nj-4, Fort Lee, NJ 07024). Related Komvention links and/or emails will lead you to information about hotel reservation, registration, advertising in the magazine, tickets, invitations, guest artists, transportation, safety, childcare, popular attractions, and other specifics of this annual rendezvous. We are all encouraged to start Komvention preparations earlier by respecting the suggested deadlines so as to avoid the hassles associated with last minute arrangements.
This year’s Komvention promises to be more than anything ever recorded in the history of cultural conventions in the African Diaspora. Highlights include: the boat tour on the Hudson river in the morning of Friday June 22nd; the cultural night scheduled for later that evening; the Red Carpet/fundraising gala on Saturday June 23rd; and the BBQ on Sunday June 24th. It is evidently clear that our host chapter has rolled out the red carpet and are putting all hands on deck to welcome us all to the city that never sleeps.
Ladies and gentlemen, this year’s Komvention meets in the context of the mission/vision of AfoaKom USA Inc; its motto of “Pride, Unity, and Development; and the theme “the role of the diaspora in Kom development.” In this regard, we enthusiastically look forward to meeting each other again; showcasing Kom cultural magnificence; raising funds towards the completion of the approved KIMCC (Kom Integrated Multipurpose Community Center) at Fujua; and formulating a roadmap for supporting HRM Clement Ndzi II in his expressed mission of giving Kom a facelift.
As we excitingly look forward to the New York City 2018 Komvention, we shall forever miss HRM Vincent Yuh II who has been missing since last year. His legacy of progressive reforms in Kom shall reign for eternity. Thank you Mbae! We shall also greatly miss our dynamic Bobe Donald Prince (CEO of Khati-Khati Chicken Ltd.) who was recently called home by the Lord. May his gentle soul find rest in the bosom of our Maker.
The 2018 Komvention is a date that one cannot afford to miss. We cannot wait to meet with the entire Kom community in the United States, the energetic Komnamites, our donors, our invitees from across the globe, and our well-wishers in June. Together, we can move mountains and as one African proverb states, “if you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
Thank you all for your selfless service to Kom!
Thank you all for committing to be part of this year’s Komvention!
And thank you Northeast for hosting us this year.
